Pre and Post Operative CarePre-Operative Care On a typical mission, as many as 500 children receive free physical examinations, in addition to the 150 who receive surgeries. For many of these children, this will be the first time they have received a medical exam. These screenings are vital to determining which children qualify for surgery and which may require more extensive treatment. Post-Operative Care Programme The Post-Operative Care Programme provides our patients with comprehensive care after surgery by evaluating their health, the progress of their surgical treatment, their speech and, if necessary, delivering further medical care. Patients are examined one week, six months and one year after their Operation Smile surgery. Outcome studies are performed and patient progress is tracked by Operation Smile’s electronic medical records, digital speech recordings and digital photography. The Post-Operative Care Programme not only facilitates our surgeons’ continual education, but ensures our patients receive the highest quality of care. |
